Winter & Spring 2008 Activities

 

Activities Meeting More than Once a Week:

 

Tuesday through Thursday

 

The Homework Zone- February 12-May 1

**PLEASE NOTE NEW HOMEWORK ZONE SCHEDULE!**

                                      

Let Doug and the gang help with homework and have fun in the process. You must bring homework and agenda to this class. New and returning students welcome. Limit 12 students per day.

Art

February 11-April 28

 

Patricia is back to teach all the latest and greatest art techniques, through a variety of mediums. We will have another field trip to the Missoula Art Museum!

 

Ice Skating

SESSION 1: February 11-March 17

SESSION 2: April 7-April 28

**Parents must pick their children up at Glacier Ice Rink by 5:00.**

 

There will be Session 1 and Session 2. We want to give everyone a chance to head over to the Glacier Ice Rink with Michelle and Kristina. Beginners and experts alike are welcome!

 

 Wildflower Gardening

April 7-April 28

 

If you like being outside and experiencing nature, you won’t want to miss this session of wildflower gardening with Marilyn at the Fort Greenhouse. Welcome the warm weather with us!

Gamers

February 12-April 29

 

Brian and Lori are back! Come play indoor and outdoor games, including chess, basketball, football, and board games. Bring a friend and have a blast!

 

Super Science Squad - NEW!

February 12-March 18

 

We invite all science and technology enthusiasts to come join spectrUM's Super Science Club!  In this six week club you'll learn how to paint with light, build mechanized creatures, and design animation.  The final week of the club includes a private science party at the spectrUM Discovery Area, complete with interactive exhibits and guided cow eyeball dissections.  Pretty Cool, huh?     

          

American Indian Club

February 12-April 29

 

This club will work with beads, make fry bread, hear stories & play traditional games.  Come learn about various parts of American Indian Culture & how it relates to Contemporary American Indians.   

 

Guitar

April 1-May 1

 

Join members of the band “Red 40,” from Sentinel High School, as they lend their time and talent to this great guitar jam session. Please know you must bring your own guitar and have had some experience.

 

Wednesdays

Skate Park

February 13-April 30

**Parents must pick their children up at SHEC by 5:00.**

**If you are planning on staying later, Kate must have it in writing.**

 

Skate at the FLIPSIDE.  You need your own skates or skateboard,  pads, helmet and parents must fill out a new 2008 FLIPSIDE Permission Slip. A HELMET IS REQUIRED.  See Kate if you have any questions.

 

Girls in Action (G U T S)

February 13-April 30

 

Join other girls for a weekly chat group & fun adventures in the community. There will be field trips, and an opportunity to get to know other middle school girls from Meadow Hill and Washington at community activities.

 

Dance with Jen!

If you love to dance, be creative, and have a fun time while doing it—this is the class for you.

Discovery Corps

SESSION 2: April 7-May 1

 

The folks from Parks and Rec are back and are gearing up for an exciting and adventurous winter and spring session. There will be 2 sessions, so we can give more students an opportunity for adventure! Sign up quickly!

 

WIT (Women In Transition)- NEW!

February 14-May 1

 

For 8th grade girls, this club will discuss the pressures of being a teen.  We will play games, eat food, talk about high school, and discuss health related issues. Limit 10 students.

 

Respect Club

February 14-May 1

 

Jeff and Heidi will continue to facilitate this club, which will learn about the impact of violence and prejudice and what we can do to stop it.  Students will design and implement community action projects.  This club is facilitated through NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute) New and returning students welcome!

Flagship House

February 11-April 28

 

This lunch program is open to those who have already filled out a Flagship House application from the Fall Semester. If you are new, and would like to fill one out, please see Kate. Space is limited!

 

Wednesdays

Money Matters-NEW! 6th grade only!

February 13-April 30

 

Get wise with your money. Jodi from the Montana 1st Credit Union will be here to play games with you, help you save some cash, and learn important money matters.

 

Thursdays

Lunch-er-cise - NEW! 7th & 8th grade only!

February 14-May 1

 

Need a chance to burn off some excess winter energy? Bring your bag lunch, and join Michelle and Kate for some exercise and good times.
