The Flagship Program at Washington Middle School offers a variety of afterschool programs to all WMS students, free of charge. Afterschool programs run in the fall (mid-September to early December), winter (mid-February to late March) and spring (early April to early May), and then weekly summer day camps are held for six weeks in June and July. All Flagship programs are FREE and open to any Washington Middle School students.
Our afterschool programs consist of approximately 20 programs per session, changing based on student interests, partnerships in the community, and various community and university volunteers who wish to share their talents, interests, and hobbies with WMS students. Some of the more popular offerings have included cooking, LEGO Robotics, film making, various art and animation activities, ice skating, outdoor adventures, Ultimate Frisbee, chess, and role-playing games. Tutoring is offered Monday - Thursday through our Homework Zone program. Afterschool programs meet from 3:30 to 5:15 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Thursday programs run 2:30 to 4:00 pm or to 5:15 pm, depending on the activity. Youth Development Coordinator, Kristian Stipe
