Washington Middle School

 Summer Program Schedule

Session 1 July 6th- July 23rd
Session 2 July 27
th- August 13th

Session 1 includes KAYAKING-Zootown Surfers will be taking us to Frenchtown Pond to  learn how to outfit your kayak, get out of your boat (“wet-exits”), boat control, braces (to keep your boat upright!) and basic strokes such as the forward and reverse sweeps, correction strokes, and combination strokes.

WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING- Matthew Nord of Tangled Tones Music Studio will be sharing with students the wonders of West African Drum. We are excited to have this  opportunity to make some beautiful music while learning about other cultures!

Session 2 includes: OSPREY GAME-THURSDAY, July 29th  from 1:00 to 9:00. We will go to Splash Montana, have a picnic lunch, and then go to the Osprey Game! Pick-up is at McCormick Park at 9:00pm

NATURE ADVENTUREAfternoons the last week of camp will be spent with Montana Natural History Center doing a week of outdoor exploration

Both Sessions include:
GARDENING-
Students will garden with Community City Harvest on Tuesday mornings! Washington has it’s own garden and we are proud to help make this garden grow!

COMMUNITY SERVICE- We will be serving at the Poverello Homeless Shelter and the Missoula Food Bank on Monday mornings. This service opportunity is a great way to give back to a wonderful Missoula Community!

FIELD TRIPS- On Wednesday morning students will have an “inside” tour of some of the great sites and museums in the area. It’s a great way o see a little more of Missoula!

HIKING- Every Friday we will be using our afternoons from 10-1 to do some of the hikes in the area. We will be hiking to the M, the L, in Blue Mountain, and the Rattlesnake.

SWIMMING- Many of our afternoons will be spent at Splash Montana! We can cool off from the hot summer rays

...AND….BOWLING, WATER GAMES AND LOTS OF FUN!
