​POSITION: The Flagship Program, Summer Camp Co-Leader
CLOSE DATE: open until filled
HOURS: June 15- August 14
 
JOB SUMMARY: The Flagship Program is a community-school partnership that enhances the social, academic, cultural and physical achievement of Missoula’s youth by creating opportunities that help them to succeed and grow to become healthy and productive adults.

The Flagship Program provides afterschool and summer opportunities for youth in grades K-12 in eight Missoula County Public Schools. Under the umbrella of Western Montana Mental Health Center, Flagship offers youth a school-based program in mentoring and skill building. Our main program focus consists of four core components: academic achievement, health and wellness, art and culture and pro-social development. Enrollment in Flagship afterschool programs is open to all youth at Franklin, Hawthorne and Lowell Elementary, CS Porter, Meadow Hill and Washington Middle, and Hellgate and Willard Alternative High Schools. Flagship is FREE of charge to all participants and families. Flagship is unique to Missoula and with community support we have been able to sustain this model for 24 years. 
 
Duties for a Flagship Summer Camp Co-Leader include development, scheduling, and oversight of camps for all youth enrolled in Flagship. The Flagship Summer Camp Co-Leader should support the Youth Development Coordinator at the school assigned in engaging children in grades K-5 and 6-8 through project based learning and field trips, in a six week summer camp. Flagship strives to give children a safe place to learn new skills, expose them to community resources, and gain a positive sense of self through mentoring. Flagship has two elementary and two middle school positions open for the 2019 summer.
 
Essential Job Responsibilities: Experience working with young people, families and youth service agencies. Ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and should demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as within a team. Ideal candidate will also demonstrate an ability to interact with adults and young people in a positive manner.
 
Education:  Current University or College student.

Eligibility: Work Study opportunity, Internship for college credit and AmeriCorps Team Member
