Youth Development Coordinator (YDC)
Under the direct supervision of the LEAD Youth Development Coordinator and Program Manager, position responsibilities include oversight of out of school time and summer opportunities. Based on the school site location, the Youth Development Coordinator has strong collaboration skills in aligning with program expectations for WMMHC and MCPS.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Develop, schedule, organize, implement, and complete oversight of out of school time and summer programs for all youth enrolled in Flagship at designated site.
• Position will work closely with school staff in arranging and marketing of out of school time and summer programs, families to communicate information, and youth in program enrollment.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and community partner instructors who conduct out of school time and summer programming for The Flagship Program.
• As a non-profit organization, Flagship relies on fundraising; YDCs will be expected to support community fundraisers indirectly and directly.
• Responsible for enrolling youth, tracking attendance, reporting program and community partner data including grant-specific reporting requirements as needed, and implementing evidence based practices and quality standards.
• Manage annual site budget, develop logic model for site, and follow evaluation processes to show outcomes.
• The position requires lesson planning, aligning with school day expectations, problem solving, and filling in for instructors who are absent.
• Assist with introduction and implementation of WMMHC initiatives.
• Work the scheduled FTE (Full Time Equivalency) as assigned. (Example: 75%, 100%, etc.)
• Abide by the employee Code of Ethics, Policies, Procedures and Values set forth by WMMHC and professional standards.
• Attend and participate in all required meetings unless excused.
• Complete all required paperwork in compliance with any Contracts, State Standards and WMMHC Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge:
At least three years of experience working with young people, families and youth service agencies. Experience working in youth or program development. Ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and should demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as within a team. Ideal candidate will also demonstrate an ability to interact with adults and young people in a positive manner.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in education, nonprofit management, or related field, and/or demonstrated, relevant and equivalent experience in human service and/or working with youth.
