Hi! I’m Ashley Sherburne, and I’m extremely excited to be starting this year as the Youth Development Coordinator at Hellgate High School. I was a volunteer for Flagship throughout college and couldn’t be more enthused to now be working for a program that does so much good work in our wonderful community. I have a passion for working with youth and doing what I can to help young people realize how truly unique and great they are. I am also really looking forward to collaborating with the amazing, devoted staff and faculty at Hellgate High School.

I grew up in the Seattle area and Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. I moved to Missoula in 2003 for college, and have lived between Missoula and East Glacier Park, where my husband is from, since then. I graduated from the University of Montana with an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Native American Studies, and just finished up my coursework for a graduate degree in Education with a focus in Environmental Education and Indian Education. My greatest passion is being outside—walking, hiking, climbing mountains, on a river, cross country skiing, or simply sitting. Nowadays, I spend lots of time with my dog on the Bitterroot River. I most love exploring the endless wilderness surrounding the town of East Glacier and in Glacier National Park. I am also a yoga instructor and a casual musician—I love to sing and play the guitar and ukulele. I grew up in a house full of pets and have a deep love for both animals of all kinds!

This year at Hellgate I will be continuing a lot of the programs from past years, and hopefully adding some new ones. I want all of the students at Hellgate to have the opportunity to participate in something that they are passionate about, interested in, or simply think is fun—so please contact me if you have any ideas for programs that you would like to see happening at Hellgate, or if you have an expertise that you would like to share as a volunteer.
