Hello! My name is Rebecca Lupold, and I’m the Flagship coordinator at Meadow Hill Middle School. I am incredibly excited to be here at Meadow Hill, working closely with students, teachers and staff, volunteers, and our community partners to offer quality after-school programs. I grew up in the tiny rural town of Blain in central Pennsylvania, surrounded by the rolling Appalachian Mountains. I attended Houghton College, a small liberal arts college in western New York, and received my BA in English Literature with a minor in Sociology.

After I graduated from college, I drove across the country to Salinas, CA, where I accepted a position at an elementary school as an AmeriCorps literacy tutor. After AmeriCorps, I worked for a few months in Jackson Lake Lodge, exploring and hiking through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in my spare time, and falling in love with the western landscape—its mountains, lakes, and rivers. I returned to Pennsylvania, worked for two years as an assistant children’s librarian and a clerk in a shipping office, then I headed back West to go to graduate school at the University of Montana. I received my MA in English Literature in May of 2008.

I enjoy reading, being outside (running, hiking, camping, canoeing), yoga, cooking and having dinner with friends, and listening to music (sometimes, at rare moments, I even dance!). I also enjoy singing loudly when listening to the radio in my car. One achievement that I am very proud of is completing my first half-marathon last summer—my next goal (sometime in my lifetime) is to complete a full marathon.

I have lived in Missoula for two years and love this community. Flagship plays an important role in Missoula and I have learned so much working with students, teachers, and staff here at Meadow Hill, as well as with other community partners. The students at Meadow Hill amaze and inspire me everyday.
